KUALA LUMPUR – Police have arrested a man who was caught on a close circuit television (CCTV) hitting an elderly man with his helmet at a petrol station in Jalan Duta.
Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the 38-year-old suspect worked as a personal chauffeur, reported Inforoadblock.
He also said that the suspect had an ongoing drug case against him in 2010 and was on the police’s Wanted list.
However, he tested negative for drugs after a urine test.
“We have also confiscated the clothes the suspect wore during the incident, a Modenas Kriss MR3 motorcycle, and a helmet,” said Amihizam in a statement yesterday (Nov 14).
Amihizam added that the suspect had claimed the victim had purposely cut him off while he was about to refuel his motorcycle, causing him to become upset and attack the victim.
The victim received treatment at the hospital and was discharged yesterday.
“The suspect will be remanded until Tuesday (Nov 16) and the case will be investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury using a weapon,” he said.
Amihizam also urged witnesses to the incident to give a statement at the nearest police station.
