A man who was named as the “Most wanted person of Bataraza, Puerto Princesa, Palawan” was given a cake by police after he was arrested on his birthday.
Allan Barrientos Delos Angeles has been on the run ever since an arrest warrant was issued in 1996 for illegal possession of firearms and murder.
According to the Altavas Municipal Police Station, the police successfully detained Angeles on Tuesday (Apr 19) and discovered that he was turning 45-years-old while processing the paperwork.
When the personnel of Altavas PNP discovered that it was his birthday at the time of his arrest, Delos Angeles was surprised with a birthday cake courtesy of Altavas PNP.
They also posted a photo of Angeles displaying a placard with his information on it for his mugshot while a police officer holds the cake for him.
Released on bail
Local media PhilSTAR Life later reported that Angeles was released the next day after posting bail at 60,000 pesos (RM4,914) and 200,000 pesos (RM16,382) respectively.
Police also said that Angeles firmly maintained his innocence and did not fight back when apprehended.
He did not resist arrest when he saw the warrant. He wanted to clear his name so that he could live well.
