During a recent Wednesday(10 Jan) session at the Magistrate’s Court, Inspector Yip Chang Ching, an analyst from the Forensic Crime Investigation Unit and the eighth witness in the case, revealed the discovery of 90 explicit images and three pornographic videos on a mobile phone registered under Ebit Lew’s name.
More than 90 explicit photos found
According to Astro Awani, Inspector Chang Ching detailed the findings from a flash drive containing data extracted from the said phone.
He added that it took him approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes to extract the files.
He confirmed the phone was registered to an email (ebitlew@gmail.com) and linked to two phone numbers.
Among the questionable content, Inspector Chang Ching identified images depicting male genitalia, female breasts, and other explicit material.
Furthermore, 17 of the 90 images were specifically of male genitalia, with three matching evidence presented in earlier trial sessions.
Following the file’s opening, I spent approximately two days thoroughly examining and analyzing the data to extract the required information, adhering to the guidelines outlined in the analysis form prepared by the investigating officer,” he said.
In another aspect of the analysis, conducted by LGMS on a Samsung phone, two outgoing calls were made to Ebit’s number, lasting 136 and 1,346 seconds, on May 1 and May 20, 2021, respectively, reported Sinar Harian.
Ebit Lew faces 11 charges
However, no messages or media files, such as documents or images, were found on this phone.
Inspector Chang Ching elaborated on the absence of message exchanges between the complainant’s number and the owner’s phone, suggesting possible deletion without any backup.
After completing the analysis, the evidence was secured in a safe pending collection by investigating officers on January 10, 2023.
Ebit Lew, legally named Ebit Irawan Ibrahim, 38, represented by lawyers Datuk Ram Singh, Timothy Daut, and Chen Wen Jye, faces 11 charges.
These include sending lewd images and words via WhatsApp from March to June 2021, aimed at dishonoring the victim, under Section 509 of the Penal Code.
