During the trial of preacher Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, also known as Ebit Lew, a witness presented evidence to the Magistrate’s Court.

936 screenshots showing pornographic websites history
According to The Sun Daily, The witness, Royal Malaysia Police’s senior audio-video analyst, ASP Latifah Abdul Aziz, reported that she discovered 936 screenshots showing the history of visits to pornographic websites from a mobile device.
Of these, she deemed 146 screenshots to contain obscene material.
She further requested the court to look at the first and last screenshots, indicating that the period of browsing history covered dates from June 14, 2020, to August 19, 2021.
Latifah, who is also the seventh witness for the prosecution, also shared that she had been directed to examine a second mobile device, where she discovered eight images of a pornographic nature, reportedly originating from the WhatsApp application.
The witness had previously confirmed that the internet searches had been conducted through the Google application.
Defense lawyer: irrelevant to the charges
In a previous hearing, the defense lawyer, Ram Singh, contested the prosecution’s questions about the Google search history, stating there was no conclusive evidence to prove site visitations based on search history.
He pointed out that there were numerous searches on the mobile device analysed, deeming them irrelevant to the charges.
In response, Deputy Public Prosecutor Zahida Zakaria argued for the admissibility of the evidence, stating that the pornographic Google searches were made on the same dates referenced in the charges.
Zahida asserted that this evidence was crucial to establish the behaviour and context of the defendant on the said dates. She further suggested that the accused had browsed these sites before sending obscene messages to the complainant.
About the case
Ebit Lew is currently facing 11 charges, including one for offending the dignity of a woman in her 40s.
It is alleged that Lew sent lewd words and images to the victim’s phone via WhatsApp between March and June 2021.
If found guilty under Section 509 of the Penal Code, Lew could be sentenced to up to five years in prison, fined, or both.
