Singapore has claimed the title of the friendliest city in Southeast Asia, according to Preply, an online tutoring platform.
The study assessed various cities across Asia, considering factors like visitor return rates, diversity acceptance, and safety levels.
Singapore Tops Southeast Asia
Singapore topped the Southeast Asian rankings, achieving a 14% visitor return rate and scoring 164 out of 200 for visitor acceptance.

While its acceptance of diversity was 52 out of 100, the city’s safety index stood at 74.68.
It also boasts the highest language proficiency in Asia, with a score of 631, and was rated three out of five for its friendliness towards foreigners.
Kuala Lumpur Secures 6th Place in Southeast Asia
Kuala Lumpur was ranked 6th in Southeast Asia and 15th overall in Asia. It received a visitor acceptance score of 195 out of 200, indicating high approval from visitors.

However, its acceptance of diversity was significantly lower, scoring 13 out of 100.
Kuala Lumpur’s safety index was also relatively low at 38.57 out of 100.
Despite this, the city performed well in language proficiency, scoring 568—one of the higher scores in the region. Its friendliness to foreigners was rated at three out of five, similar to Singapore.

Regional Overview: Friendliest and Least Friendly Cities
Across Asia, Taipei, Taiwan was crowned the friendliest city, while Mandalay, Myanmar, was ranked as the least friendly.
