In anticipation of the 2024 New Year’s Eve celebrations, RapidKL has announced an extension in the operational hours for select LRT, MRT, and Monorail stations, as well as specific bus services, on the night of December 31, 2023.
List of key LRT,MRT and Monorail stations with extended operating hours
The extended hours, until 1.30 am, are part of an effort to accommodate the increased demand expected from city dwellers attending downtown festivities.
The selected stations are:
Kelana Jaya LRT line:
- Masjid Jamek
- KLCC
Ampang/Sri Petaling LRT line:
- Bandaraya
- Masjid Jamek
- IOI Puchong Jaya
- Maluri
Monorail
- Bukit Bintang
Kajang MRT line
- Bukit Bintang
- TRX
- Maluri
- Cochrane
Putrajaya MRT line
- TRX
To facilitate smooth travel and avoid congestion at the stations, passengers are encouraged to use the Touch N Go card or purchase round-trip tokens in advance.
The extended hours also apply to interchange stations, enabling seamless connectivity for passengers.

Additionally, the Sunway Line’s three BRT stations and 21 selected Rapid KL and MRT feeder bus routes will operate until 1.30 am.
These measures, including increased staff presence and operational support, aim to enhance the overall travel experience.
Train frequency across all LRT, MRT, and Monorail services will be increased from 1.00 pm until the end of the operational hours on that day.
RapidKL advises the public to opt for public transportation on New Year’s Eve to avoid potential traffic congestion, especially near event venues.
