Following news of Jay Chou’s stage structure blocking 21,000 seats for the AFF Cup semi-finals match, many football fans have expressed unhappiness and are requesting the Taiwanese singer to cancel his concert.
Following the uproar, Youth and Sports minister Hannah Yeoh said in a tweet that the organizers of Jay Chou’s concert had booked the Bukit Jalil National Stadium four years in advance, adding that the organizers have also delayed 2.5 days to make way for the football match.

2)Konsert perlu 14 hari pasang pentas oleh 500 krew+185 krew antarabangsa, 45 jentera berat, 200 speaker & 800 lampu. Mereka dah delay 2.5hari bagi ruang AFF pic.twitter.com/45lV5dZLu5
‘Please postpone or cancel it!’
However, many football fans were still mad over the arrangement, with some venting their frustration out on Jay Chou’s Facebook page.

One did not mince his words, where he called Jay a “lousy singer”.

Another wrote, “Go to Genting Highlands or somewhere else.. Stadium Bukit Jalil is not for [holding] concert. We are not welcoming you to coming (sic).”

This netizen even “cursed” the concert by wishing for heavy rain on the day itself. How rude!

‘Not Jay’s fault’
On the other hand, there were several Malaysians who were more courteous and apologised for the unkind remarks.
They also said that it wasn’t Jay’s fault for the clash in venue, but the organiser’s.
