The government is set to disburse RM100 e-wallet credit to eligible beneficiaries by December this year.
More than 10 million Malaysians expected to benefit from this assistance
Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, the Deputy Finance Minister, announced that an estimated 10 million Malaysian citizens with an annual income of less than RM100,000 are expected to benefit from this e-wallet assistance.
According to Sin Chew Daily, Ahmad Maslan described this initiative as unprecedented, with ten million individuals receiving the RM100 e-wallet credit.
He highlighted that this move is a significant increase from the previous initiative where the government provided 2 million youths with RM200 e-wallet credits each.
Details will be announced in ‘few days’
When asked about the definition of annual income, Ahmad clarified that the RM100,000 threshold refers to individual income, not household income.
He further mentioned that this RM100 e-wallet initiative was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar in July.
“All qualified individuals aged 21 and above will receive the RM100 e-wallet credit, with the total allocation amounting to approximately RM1 billion,” he said.
The deputy finance minister also said that details regarding the disbursement of the RM100 e-wallet credit will be announced in the coming days.
