According to the conversation, the man was forced to alter his leave plans at the last moment since his wife was expected to deliver earlier than initially predicted.
“Assalamualaikum boss, can I take a week off starting tomorrow? My wife is giving birth early. I need leave to look after her,” the man told his supervisor.
Regrettably, his supervisor was unwilling to accommodate his request and asked him to resign without any consideration.
“What about your work if you take leave? Who will handle it? You should just quit. Don’t bother coming back, I don’t want you anymore,” the supervisor replied.
‘Unlawful dismissal’
Many people criticized the situation in response to the tweet, with some urging the man to file a complaint with the appropriate authorities.
One questioned: “Can a supervisor fire someone?”
“Huhu cruel. But there are many bosses like this. No tolerance”
“Employees cannot be dismissed immediately if there is no valid reason. At least give an official termination letter. Plus, now there is a law for paternity leave.“
One also wrote that such act should be considered as unlawful dismissal.
