A body of a 15-year-old teenage girl was found half-naked, neck and hands tied in tape in a drain near a palm oil estate in Brantian last Wednesday (4 Jan).
According to China Press, Tawau District Police chief, Assistant Commissioner Jasmin Hussin, said they received a report from the palm oil estate manager at around 2.45 pm.
Based on the initial investigations at the scene, the teenage girl’s body was found in a half-naked state with her neck and hands tied.
“The deceased had multiple wounds on her body, including the wound on the left side of the head where a blunt object walloped her.”
He said that the body was sent to the Tawau Hospital for post-mortem to find out the cause of death and whether the deceased was raped.
14yo suspect arrested
The police chief further shared that they have detained a 14-year-old male suspect who is believed to be connected to the case to assist in the case.
“A search was also conducted at the suspect’s home and severed items were seized to assist in the investigation.”
He said that the suspect would be detained for seven days from 5 January to 11 January to assist in the investigation.
Preliminary investigation also revealed that both the suspect and victim are children of estate workers who are foreigners that live in the same neighborhood.
The case is now being investigated under Section 302 (murder) of the Criminal Code.
