When one’s tired, he/she would look forward to shutting their eyes and resting with the hopes that no one will come bother them.
However, a Bangladeshi man was so enraged over being awakened while trying to sleep that he took a meat cleaver and slashed his roommate with it, killing him as a result.
Bangladeshi man slashes roommate with meat cleaver over disturbed sleep
According to Harian Metro, the bloody incident took place at an apartment in Kluang, Johor, on Monday night (Dec 11).
Kluang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the victim was a 28-year-old Bangladeshi man named Mohammad Sobuj.
It is believed that the victim, who was also the suspect’s roommate, was killed with a meat cleaver for disturbing the suspect who was trying to sleep.
“The incident was later reported to the police by another roommate who found the victim in a critical condition at 10am. He sustained injuries on the left side of his neck and head and his body was sent to the Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Kluang Hospital for a post-mortem examination,” he said.
Fled but got arrested
Bahrin added the suspect subsequently fled from the scene of the crime but was later nabbed by police at Jalan Nyior, opposite Taman Gunung Selatan Empat at around 4.45pm on the same day of the incident.
Police also seized the meat cleaver found at the crime scene, while four other Bangladesh nationals were detained to assist investigations.
“The other four suspects, aged between 25 to 30, discovered that the suspect had died when they were about to head for work at 8am. Their urine tests were negative for drugs and they will be remanded today,” he said.
The case is now being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
