A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death in Melaka on May 9, 2023, after making a lewd comment about a woman’s breast size while having supper at Taman Kenanga, Tengkera.

According to China Press, the incident occurred at 4:30 a.m. when the victim was partying with his friends and was drunk.

Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the victim went to a stall on Jalan Kenanga for food and drinks when a couple entered the premises accompanied by a bodyguard.

The victim then made a comment about the woman’s breast size in Tamil, which was overheard by the bodyguard.

The woman’s boyfriend and the bodyguard then confronted the victim, and a fight broke out.

Turned into a gang fight

The Star reported that the victim’s friends also joined in the altercation.

During the fight, the victim was stabbed several times with a sharp object, and he succumbed to his injuries at Melaka Hospital.

The post-mortem report revealed that he died of a stab wound to the heart.

Nine suspects arrested

As of press time, nine suspects connected to the case were subsequently arrested by the police.

All of the suspects, aged between 25 and 38, were brought to court on May 10 to apply for an extension of the remand order.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. The police also seized a knife and an iron rod that are believed to have been used in the fight.
