KUALA LUMPUR – Two motorists lost their lives in the blink of an eye after they were struck by a lorry while changing a punctured tyre by the side of the road, reported China Press.
The terrifying incident took place near Bukit Rotan at KM11.5 of Jalan Kuala Selangor heading towards Kuala Lumpur at around 4.40pm yesterday (June 2).
According to Kuala Selangor police chief Superintendent Ramli Kasa, preliminary investigations showed that the tyre of the Proton Preve driven by a Ministry of Health (KKM) official had punctured.
“He was later joined by a Proton Wira driver, who stopped by the emergency lane and helped him to change the tyre.
“Not long after, a lorry came their way and rammed into them, resulting in their deaths,” he said.
The lorry was believed to have collided with a car which was in its front blind spot, causing it to ram into the two motorists before coming to a complete stop by the shoulder of the road.
The case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
