Following top national shuttler Lee Zii Jia’s amicable resolution with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) regarding his resignation and subsequent ban, Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has decided to arrange a mouthwatering match between Lee and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games champion Cheah Liek Hou to lighten up the mood.
Finally, a worthy opponent!
In an Instagram story posted by Cheah, Ahmad Faizal invites Lee to a formal match against Cheah while clad in a traditional Chinese costume.
Hey Zii Jia, listen to me ya… I now challenge you this Chinese New Year to play against Liek Hou!
He also added that Lee has to give Cheah a five-point lead before the game starts before wishing him “Happy Chinese New Year”.
Also present was Youth & Sports Deputy Minister Ti Lian Ker, Malaysian high jumper Lee Hip Wei, national female rhythmic gymnast Koi Sie Yan, and a few others.
Lee later reposted Cheah’s story and cheekily said he’ll be waiting for him at Alor Setar.
However, Cheah told Sin Chew Daily that although Lee has invited him over to Alor Setar for the showmatch, he would still meet him in future matches in Kuala Lumpur.
It’s unrelated to the article but here’s our brand-new podcast – Talk Je Lah!
