A newborn baby boy who was left abandoned inside a box was found by members of the public at a bus stop area, Jalan SB Indah 2, Taman Sungai Besi Indah Seri Kembangan, here this morning, Kosmo! reported.
Found inside a brown box
Serdang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner A.A Anbalagan said they received a call from a local who said he had found a baby at the location at around 9.25am.
“Preliminary investigation found that the baby boy was found in a brown box at a bus stop in front of Sungai Besi Indah Apartment, Seri Kembangan,” he told the Malay daily.
“The baby boy has been taken to Serdang Hospital for further examination.”
“The police is also locating the witnesses by using closed-circuit television (CCTV) in the nearby area,” he said.
Anbalagan added that the case is currently being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code, which deals with the offence of exposure and abandonment of a child under 12 years by parent or person having care of it.
