Najib’s 12-Year Jail Sentence Reduced To 6, Fine Reduced To RM50 Million

On January 29, 2024, the 61st session of the Federal Territories Pardon Board, covering Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya, convened to deliberate on five pardon petitions, including one from Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak.

Chaired by His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah Riayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah, the board considered various opinions and advice before reaching its verdict.

The Pardon Board decided to reduce Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib’s sentence and fine by 50 percent.

As a result, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib is approved for early release on August 23, 2028, and his fine has been reduced from RM210 million to RM50 million.

However, should the fine not be paid, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib’s prison term will be extended by one year, affecting his release date.
