She said Tabung Haji has yet to provide an update on the matter.
Most people would trust the banks and financial institutions to take care of their money and ensure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

However, there are times where things might go wrong, leaving the victims desperate and penniless.

Woman has RM30K savings disappear from Tabung Haji account

This was exactly what happened to 66-year-old Datuk Jabidah Monseri, who was shocked to find RM30,000 in savings completely vanish from her Tabung Haji account on Nov 30, 2023, reported Berita Harian.

According to Jabidah, she retired from her position as deputy director-general of the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) in 2017 and was subsequently offered to be the chairperson of UNIMAS Holdings, a subsidiary of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

After she took on her new role, Jabidah said she was too busy to check her Tabung Haji account.

As I was too busy with my new duties, I did not update my Tabung Haji account, especially since I was very confident with the security of the funds held in Tabung Haji.

“In 2019, I was also appointed as a member of the Sarawak Civil Service Commission, and I became even busier as I had to frequently travel across the state, so I continued to neglect checking my Tabung Haji account,” she said as quoted by NST.

As such, one can imagine her immense shock when she discovered that RM30,000 simply disappeared from her Tabung Haji account when she went to update her account book.

“I nearly fainted when the clerk told me that my account only had a balance of RM1,816.74, whereas there should have been over RM31,000 in it,” she added.

Upon closer examination, it was found that 30 transactions were made from Feb 26, 2018 to Jan 21, 2020.

A total of seven transfers from Tabung Haji to several bank accounts and 23 ATM withdrawals were made, with the first transaction being made on Feb 26, 2018 at the amount of RM10,000.

The ATM withdrawal amount ranged from RM1,000 to RM1,500.

On Dec 1, Jabidah lodged a police report at the Gita police in Kuching but said she has yet to receive any updates from Tabung Haji.

“I received no communication from Tabung Haji despite three months having passed since the report was filed.

“I hope Tabung Haji will provide a response and take responsibility for the loss of my savings,” she said.
