A woman has shared a painful experience involving her former employer, whom she claimed repeatedly demanded photographic proof while she was still recovering in hospital after giving birth.
According to her account, her employer allegedly asked her to send a selfie with her newborn baby to prove that she was genuinely admitted to the hospital.
Asked to provide multiple forms of proof
The woman said her husband had already sent a photo of the baby’s information card, which reportedly displayed the mother’s name and the date of birth.

However, she claimed that her employer was still not satisfied and requested additional evidence.
My boss kept pressuring me to send a selfie with my baby. Then, I was told to open my doctor’s file and take a picture as confirmation that I had been admitted to the ward.
“Couldn’t they wait until I was discharged first?” she wrote, expressing frustration over the alleged treatment.
She later sent a photo of herself wearing the hospital’s pink polka dot patient gown, but claimed her employer continued asking for a selfie of her together with the baby, reported mStar.
Contract allegedly not renewed a day after delivery
What made the experience even more upsetting was that her employment contract, which ended on Oct 30, was allegedly not renewed despite her providing the requested proof.

The woman had given birth to her first child just one day earlier, on Oct 29.
She described the incident as one of the most difficult moments of her life, as she had to deal with pressure from her workplace while recovering from childbirth.
Netizens criticise employer’s alleged actions
Her story drew anger from netizens, with many questioning why an employee who had just given birth was subjected to such intense scrutiny.
Some suggested that the employer may have been looking for an excuse not to retain her.
“How can someone like this become a boss? At this rate, if an employee dies, they might ask the employee to personally show their death certificate,” one netizen commented.
Another netizen shared a similar experience, claiming that their employer once doubted a family member’s death and demanded photographic proof of the deceased.
Many stressed that employers should show compassion towards workers, especially mothers who have recently given birth and require adequate time to recover physically and emotionally.
