A heartwarming TikTok video of a Malaysian primary school student sharing ‘duit raya‘ with his classmates has gone viral, accumulating more than 1.3 million views at the time of reporting.

In the video, captioned “Duit raya time,” young Amsyar is seen with a pile of duit raya, handing them out one by one to his classmates who are lined up in an organized manner, each patiently waiting for their turn to accept the cherished green envelope.
Performs salam to classmate too
As part of the touching gesture, Amsyar and his classmates also participated in the traditional exchange of salam (greetings).
Following Malay customs, the younger person bows their head and places the elder recipient’s hand on their forehead as a sign of respect during the greeting.
Amsyar also presented duit raya to his female classmates, though his parents acknowledged in a caption that he was somewhat bashful in these instances.
Duit raya, or green packets containing money, are traditionally given during the Hari Raya celebrations.
