A woman has recently turned to social media to recount her experience of her husband taking control of her personal account, imposing a daily spending limit of RM10, even though she is gainfully employed.
Only given RM10 a day
According to Kosmo!, the woman, who has been married for just a year, expressed her distress over her husband’s tight grip on her finances.

As an administrative assistant at a law firm, she works hard for her salary, only to have her bank card held and her wages controlled by her spouse.
“I work 10 hours a day, and the salary I should enjoy every month is controlled. He treats me like a child who can’t manage money,” she lamented.
Living in Johor Bahru, the woman highlighted that RM10 is insufficient for daily expenses, including fuel for her motorcycle.
She is forced to plead for more money if she needs to make any additional purchases.
“If I were just a housewife, I might understand some limitations, but this is the fruit of my own labor,” she added.
Led her to consider divorce
While she acknowledges that her husband is not negligent in providing for the household, the discomfort of not having access to her own earnings has led her to contemplate divorce, despite still having feelings for him.
This case has opened up a conversation about financial control within marriages and the autonomy of working women over their earnings, with many disagreeing with the husband’s approach to handling his wife’s bank card and salary.
