M’sian Duo Jailed 2 Weeks, Fined RM8,000 For Forging 40 Medical Certificates

They pleaded guilty.
Two men were sentenced to 14 days in jail and fined RM8,000 each after they pleaded guilty to forging fake medical certificates (MC).

The duo, Mohd Shukrie Zainuddin, and Muhammad Asyraf Zunaidy, were handed the sentence by Magistrate Ellyna Othman at the Kuantan magistrate’s court today, reported NST.

Made 40 fake MCs

The duo admitted to forging a total of 40 medical certificates, where they used a doctor’s name and signature to fool victims into thinking it was issued by a clinic.

They allegedly committed the offences at a factory along Jalan Bypass Gebeng between March 28 and July 13.

Mohd Shukrie and Muhammad Asyraf were charged under Section 465 of the Penal Code, which carries up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.

Their lawyer pleaded for a fine to be imposed, saying that the duo had repented. However, Deputy public prosecutor B. Deevagaran Naidu called for a deterrent sentence.
