M’sian Bus Driver Working In S’pore Finds Lost Wallet & Returns It To Owner’s Doorstep, Refuses Reward

In an era where life’s pace often feels unrelenting, moments of pure kindness shine even brighter. Surish Kumar, a Malaysian bus captain working in Singapore, became the hero of such a moment when he discovered a lost wallet at a Woodlands bus stop.

Iffah, a 20-year-old resident of Singapore, was on her way to Arab Street in Singapore when her wallet went missing.

The realization came with the familiar pang of losing something valuable; it held not just money but also her NRIC, credit cards, and house keys. Despite her frantic search and alerting SMRT, the wallet seemed gone for good.

However, Surish Kumar, who had been driving buses in Singapore for an impressive 11 years, stumbled upon the lost wallet.

Recognizing its importance, he took the initiative during his off-work hour and visited the address on the NRIC, leaving behind a heartfelt note.

“Pls call or WhatsApp XXX,” he wrote.

“Found your wallet at bus stop Blk 402”.

When Iffah contacted Surish, he introduced himself and shared that he resided in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Despite the distance and his hectic work schedule, he ensured he returned the wallet personally, making the journey after his work shift.

Refused reward

Iffah and her family were profoundly touched by Surish’s actions.

The wallet was returned with all its contents untouched. As a token of her gratitude, Iffah offered a reward. But Surish, showcasing his genuine spirit, declined.

He further shared a personal story, revealing that his wife had recently lost her handbag. Understanding the distress a person feels in such situations, he shared that simply wanted to help without expecting anything in return.

Iffah also expressed her gratitude when asked by Mothership, sharing that despite Surish’s busy schedule as a bus captain in Malaysia, he still took the time to deliver the item to her doorstep.
