Jocelyn Chia’s Father Allegedly Disowns Her, M’sians Think It’s A Troll Post

Next level baiting?
It seems like Singaporean-born comedian and undisputedly the most hated figure among Malaysians Jocelyn Chia is still drawn to controversy like a moth drawn to a flame.

Days after the Good Vibes Festival was cancelled thanks to The 1975 lead singer Matty Healy’s drunken rant, she proceeded to mock the Malaysian government for their “overreaction” to the incident.

Jocelyn Chia disowned by father?

In a shocking twist that no one saw coming, her father, Anthony Chia Whye Liang, allegedly posted a tweet where he announced that he would be disowning her.

In the said tweet, he wrote that he and his wife had failed in raising Jocelyn to be a better person for society.

I publicly announce here for the first time, me and my beloved wife Shirley will disown our daughter @JocelynChia from here onwards till the day of our death.

“Her doing was my total failure in raising her to be a better person for society. The public deserved better then this,” the tweet read.

M’sians not convinced by tweet

However, a majority of Malaysian netizens were not taking the bait and believed that it was Jocelyn’s attempt at garnering more online clout for herself.

‘Fake account. Must be Jocelyn herself behind this to gain clout.’

Another pointed out that it was unlikely her father would disown her over her antics, given the fact that he allegedly said that he was “proud of her” for her MH370 joke which catapulted her into infamy.

How it all started

Jocelyn first courted controversy with Malaysians after a clip of her poking fun at the MH370 tragedy went viral, prompting strong condemnation from both the Malaysian and Singaporean government.

The police even tried to have Interpol help them in tracking her whereabouts, but there have been no further updates until now.

Following the Matty Healy stunt, Jocelyn took the opportunity to once again mock the government for cancelling the concert, saying that it had “found the winning formula” in making artists more famous.
