We were given menus that were both in English and Mandarin, which made it easy for us to choose our dishes.
After much consideration, we decided to order the signature claypot chicken rice and the Portuguese grilled fish, as we had heard many good things about these two dishes.
The restaurant had an ‘open’ kitchen, and we could see the chefs cooking our food on a large charcoal grill by the roadside.

When our food finally arrived, we were impressed with the presentation. The claypot chicken rice came in a sizzling hot clay pot, and the Portuguese grilled fish was plated beautifully.

Charged RM2 per item during CNY
Another disappointing aspect of our dining experience at Hong Kee Claypot Chicken Rice and Portuguese Grilled Fish was the additional charges we incurred for every dish. As we visited the restaurant during the second week of the Chinese New Year period, we were charged an additional RM2 for every item we ordered.
While we understood that it was a peak period and restaurants may have additional charges, we felt that this practice was not necessary.
