H&M Responds To Hidden Footage At Fitting Rooms, M’sians Divided

Following news of hidden footage showing Malaysians changing at H&M fitting rooms allegedly being sold online, many Malaysians have demanded a formal explanation from the multinational clothing company.

In response to the allegations, H&M issued an official statement on its official Facebook page yesterday (Jan 11).

According to the statement, the company said that it has conducted an inspection of all fitting rooms across every H&M outlet in Malaysia.

We are working to ensure that there are no security breaches that will compromise the privacy of our customers.

It also reiterated that the safety of its customers was of “utmost importance” to them.

H&M further added that all findings to date have been reported to the police and that investigations are currently ongoing.

M’sians divided over H&M’s statement

The statement has since garnered over 2.1K likes and 1.4K shares, with many sharing their thoughts on the case.

“H&M you better be sharing all updates and be transparent to the public.”

Meanwhile, H&M was also condemned for exploiting customers for profit and harming public interests.

“This is why we don’t deserve nice things. One day we will see all the fitting rooms are disappearing from department stores and clothing stores. The reason? Exploiting our dignity for profit.”

One expressed his/her concern over the fact that hidden cameras can be placed anywhere, especially since technology has allowed it to evolve into pinhole cameras.
