A foreign man was seen kneeling in prayer before the Rain Vortex at Jewel Changi Airport, capturing visitors’ attention at the iconic tourist destination.
The incident was first shared on XiaoHongShu by user Kaysey, who told WeirdKaya that her friend witnessed the unusual sight last Friday (Oct 25).
According to Kaysey, the man did not engage in any other gestures beyond praying and remained focused in front of the 40-meter indoor waterfall.

His quiet act of devotion attracted the curiosity of bystanders, with some pausing to observe the serene moment.
The Rain Vortex, housed within Jewel’s glass-and-steel toroidal façade, is one of the world’s tallest indoor waterfalls.

Designed by a group of architects led by Moshe Safdie—famous for Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands—the structure was completed with the help of Singapore firm RSP Architects Planners & Engineers, who served as the executive architect and structural engineers.
Netizens have since weighed in on the sight, with some speculating the man was spiritually moved by the space. “It’s rare to witness such calm in a public area,” one user remarked.
The reason behind the man’s prayer remains unclear, but the tranquil moment has sparked discussions about personal expressions of spirituality in public spaces.
