5yo M’sian Girl Dies After She Was Left Inside The Car Near Shah Alam Hospital For Hours 

Parents, please be more mindful.

A five-year-old Malaysian girl tragically passed away after being found unconscious in her mother’s car, parked near the back entrance of Shah Alam Hospital, two days ago.

Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim reported that the police received a call about the incident from a medical officer at the hospital at 8:01 PM on 30 Jan.

According to the investigation, the young victim was unintentionally left in a Perodua Axia by her mother after being picked up from a nearby daycare around 2 PM.

“At the time the victim was left in the car, she was asleep with the car’s engine turned off.”

The 34-year-old mother, a hospital staff member, only realized the incident after her husband contacted her at 6 PM.

“The child was then taken to the Emergency Department of Shah Alam Hospital in an unconscious state before being pronounced dead,” he stated.

He added that an autopsy was conducted at 2 PM yesterday (31 Jan). The examination of the victim revealed no external or internal injuries.

Mohd Iqbal stated that investigations are being conducted under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

If found guilty, the penalty could be a fine not exceeding RM50,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 20 years, or both.

Mohd Iqbal advised the public to be more cautious when picking up their children from school or daycare, especially the younger ones, to prevent such incidents from recurring.
