In a tragic turn of events, a man suffering from depression allegedly killed his mother in their home.
The incident took place yesterday (June 18) at 8:20 PM at their residence in Taman Temiang, Muar.
Depressed man allegedly kills mother after being scolded
The man, reportedly distressed after being scolded by his 73-year-old mother, grabbed a kitchen knife and an axe and attacked her as she sat in their living room preparing to apply eye drops.

The attack left the elderly woman with four stab wounds, resulting in her immediate death.
After the incident, the suspect did not flee the scene but instead quietly sat next to his deceased mother, waiting for the arrival of the police who then took him into custody.
Grandson managed to escape
A grandson who was living with the victim managed to escape the house during the incident and sought help from neighbors.
However, no one dared to approach the house while the suspect was still inside, until the police and an ambulance arrived.

The 47-year-old suspect had previously run the Otak-Otak business but was currently unemployed.
Police: Investigation ongoing
The Muar District Police Chief, ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said in a statement that the 73-year-old female victim had severe injuries to her head and neck.
“The incident is believed to have occurred due to the victim reprimanding the suspect for creating noise, causing the suspect to lose control and strike the victim’s head with a sharp weapon,” he said.
The police team at the scene arrested a 47-year-old local male citizen, who is the victim’s son.
“Also confiscated were a kitchen knife and an axe suspected to have been used by the suspect in the incident.”
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the suspect has a previous psychiatric record.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
The Muar District Police also advise the public that heightened awareness and close monitoring should be given to individuals with psychiatric issues to prevent them from posing threats to the lives and property of others, as well as to overall public safety.
