Two siblings were tragically killed on their way to school when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car at Jalan Hutan Melintang-Bagan Datuk, on Thursday (5 Oct).
The incident, which occurred around 7 am, claimed the lives of Muhammad Lutfil Faiq Abdullah, 15, and his younger sister, Nur Lidiya Faiqah, 13.

Collided with a Perodua Viva
Both were students at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Muara nearby.
Heartbreakingly, the accident took place only about 300 meters away from their school’s gates.

According to Sinar Harian, Hilir Perak District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Adnan Basri, stated in a preliminary investigation that the victims, riding a Modenas Kriss motorcycle from Bagan Datuk towards Hutan Melintang, failed to overtake safely at the accident site.

This led to a head-on collision with a Perodua Viva car, driven by a 28-year-old woman coming from the opposite direction.
“As a result of the accident, the two siblings fell onto the road and were pronounced dead at the scene. The car’s driver sustained minor injuries,” Ahmad Adnan said in a statement on Thursday.
Driver called in to assist with investigation
He also mentioned that the female driver has been called in for questioning to assist with the investigation, which is being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The bodies of the two siblings have been taken to Teluk Intan Hospital for post-mortem.
Ahmad Adnan appealed to any independent witnesses who might have observed the accident or possess any footage of the mishap to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation.
