The Media Appreciation Gala 2024 held at Sunway Resort Hotel was electrified by an impromptu dance between Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing and beloved entertainer Ah-Niu.

The highlight of the evening came during Ah-Niu’s rendition of “Mamak Stall,” when he invited Minister Tiong to the stage.
This lively moment provided a counter-narrative to recent criticisms aimed at Minister Teong by PAS’s Marang MP, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, who had previously accused him of using “drunken dancing” as a means of promoting Malaysian tourism.
Defending his actions, Minister Teong responded, “I am not a Muslim; what is wrong with me drinking and dancing?”
He highlighted the essence of Malaysia as a land of diverse cultures and religions, stressing the need for inclusive policies that accommodate all citizens and extend a warm welcome to tourists.
