The missing car incident at the Suria KLCC valet parking that took place yesterday has finally resulted in the arrest of the suspected car thief who broke inside.
Yesterday, in a shocking turn of events, a man’s car was reported stolen just 30 minutes after he had entrusted it to the mall’s valet service.
The incident occurred at 1:20 PM yesterday (7th July) and has since been confirmed by the management of Suria KLCC, who released an official statement on social media.
“Parked at a secure location”
According to the statement, the valet personnel had parked the customer’s car in a secure location, yet it was still stolen.
Surveillance footage reviewed by the management and police revealed an unidentified individual entering and driving away with the vehicle.
“The police, using the surveillance footage provided by the mall and the car’s GPS tracking system, have successfully apprehended the suspect,” the statement read.
“An unprecedented event.”
The management expressed deep regret over the incident, emphasizing that this was an unprecedented event for their valet service, which has always operated without such issues.
They assured that the safety of shoppers and customers remains their top priority.
“In light of this incident, we are committed to reviewing and further enhancing the operating procedures of our valet service to prevent any future occurrences,” the statement added.
Car Owner Not Satisfied
In the comment section of his post and a new Facebook post, the driver of the stolen car expressed his dissatisfaction with the management, noting that they had not reached out to him directly.
He criticized their public statements claiming significant contributions to the investigation, highlighting that he and his friends had located the car independently with minimal assistance from the mall’s management.
“Suria KLCC management needs to explain how a car can be stolen from a secure valet parking service in broad daylight,” the owner stated.
He called for the release of CCTV footage to clarify how the theft occurred and questioned the overall security measures of the valet service.
