As drivers, we all probably have had our share of witnessing other drivers going to desperate and unusual lengths to ensure that they don’t have to pay the toll fee.
This time around, a red Perodua Kenari was caught on a dashcam footage cleverly maneuvering its way through the gap between the boom gate of a toll booth located at the KESAS Highway.
Perodua Kenari drives through narrow gap between boom gate
In a 32-second clip uploaded to Facebook by a netizen named Francis Yirdaki CT, he wrote that the video was originally recorded by his sister on her dashcam.
According to the footage’s timestamp, the incident took place on Apr 20 at close to 4.40pm.
During the first few seconds of the clip, it showed the Kenari and Francis’ sister lining up at a toll booth. The Kenari is then seen approaching the boom gate but it didn’t lift up.
Thinking that the Kenari had failed in getting detected by the toll booth’s RFID system, Francis’ sister reversed slightly to allow the Kenari to do the same.
But surprise, surprise. After the Kenari reversed slightly, it repositioned itself and cruised right through the gap between the boom gate before speeding off.
In the in-text caption, Francis’ sister joked that the Kenari driver had “good judgement of space” which allowed him to save RM2 in toll fees.
Netizens amused by clip
The clip has since been viewed 64,000 times and netizens couldn’t help but to marvel oer the tactic used by the Kenari driver to avoid paying the toll fee.
Some also joked that it was time for them to change their current car model.
Meanwhile, netizens were also tickled by the choice of background music, especially when the iconic saxophone solo of George Michael’s ‘Careless Whisper’ blared out when the Kenari speeded away after getting through the boom gate.
