The latest data from data.gov, Malaysia’s Public Sector Open Data portal, has revealed that the Perodua Bezza is the top-selling car in Malaysia for 2023.
The Bezza took the lead with a total of 56,735 cars registered, surpassing its closest competitor from the same brand, the Perodua Myvi, which registered 45,014 cars and secured the second spot.
Bezza overtakes Myvi as the best selling car
In 2022, the Myvi was the best seller with 74,838 cars registered, while the Bezza was a close second with 69,439 registrations.
This year’s data indicates a shift in consumer preference, with the Bezza overtaking the Myvi.
The top 10 list for 2023 is dominated by local brands, with Perodua and Proton models securing seven out of the ten spots. The ranking is as follows:
- Perodua Bezza – 56,735
- Perodua Myvi – 45,014
- Perodua Axia – 44,722
- Proton Saga – 44,696
- Perodua Alza – 23,390
- Perodua Ativa – 22,453
- Proton X50 – 22,294
- Honda City – 18,647
- Toyota Hilux – 17,148
- Proton Persona – 16,555
It’s noteworthy that the Honda City, which was fifth in 2022 with 45,369 registrations, has dropped to the eighth position in 2023.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Vios, which was in the top 10 in 2022, has been replaced by the Proton Persona in 2023.
The data provided by data.gov offers valuable insights into the automotive market trends in Malaysia, reflecting the evolving preferences of Malaysian consumers.
