The family of the 14-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing his schoolmate at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4) has yet to contact or visit the victim’s family to express condolences or apology, according to the victim’s relatives.
According to Sin Chew Daily, when speaking to the media at the wake of 16-year-old Yap Shing Xuen, her uncle (64) revealed that the suspect’s family has not shown up at the funeral hall or reached out in any way.
Until now, we haven’t received any message, visit, or apology from them,” he said somberly.

Over 200 stab wounds, says mother
The horrific incident took place at the school around 9am on October 14, where Yap was brutally stabbed multiple times by a 14-year-old male student. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene before help could arrive.
Police quickly arrested the suspect and are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code (murder).
Yap’s family has since set up a wake at Nirvana Memorial Centre in Kuala Lumpur, which opened to the public for visitation on October 16. Her funeral will be held next Monday (Oct 20).
During an earlier press conference, Yap’s mother, Wong Lee Ping (44), recounted the horrifying details. She said the suspect had climbed over the toilet partition to enter Yap’s cubicle and allegedly stabbed her more than 200 times before escaping the same way.
Outpouring of grief and public support
Reporters at the scene observed many students, dressed in white and visibly emotional, arriving to pay their final respects.
Members of the public, moved by the tragedy, also came to offer flowers, condolences, and donations to support the grieving family.
The heartbreaking case has stirred nationwide outrage and sparked renewed discussions about school safety, mental health, and student discipline in Malaysia.
