Recently, netizens were taken aback when a restaurant in Langkawi billed RM5 for a basic cup of iced water. However, it was later revealed that the staff had mistakenly entered the wrong code.
Another incident has surfaced in Langkawi, where a customer was allegedly charged a staggering RM23 for a simple ‘Nasi Ayam Goreng Kunyit’, which is a one-person serving.
“Is this fair?”
Sharing this in the Langkawi Sana Sini Facebook group, the OP expressed frustration over an excessively priced meal she had at a restaurant in Langkawi.
“No wonder outsiders say Langkawi is expensive. Do you think it’s fair to be charged like this?” she wrote in the post.
As per the receipt she posted, it shows that the restaurant charged RM3 for plain rice, RM20 for a serving of turmeric fried chicken (intended for one person), and RM1 for plain iced water, summing up to RM24.
In her post, she cautioned others to be careful and mentioned her intention to share this incident online, expressing dissatisfaction with the high price of the turmeric fried chicken at the restaurant.
“Report the restaurant”
Netizens were stunned at how much the OP had to pay for her meal, and they shared their opinions about the incident.

“Lodge a complaint with the authorities. There’s a price control act if it’s indeed unreasonably high.”
In addition, a netizen were stunned over the overpriced turmeric fried chicken.
“If the rice is fine, it’s acceptable…but when it comes to serving turmeric fried chicken like that…oh my, it’s too expensive. Charging RM20, let’s be reasonable with the portion.”
Another user sarcastically said the chicken might be from heaven, explaining the high price.
