Whenever we go to a restaurant to eat, we usually wouldn’t worry about being charged for the air-conditioning as we’d assume it’s part of the service rendered.
For one woman however, this assumption turned out to be terribly wrong after she and her friends were charged for the air-conditioning provided by a restaurant.

From RM28 to RM100
According to a Facebook post which was based on a Threads post shared by the woman, she wrote that she was initially informed that she and the group would only be charged RM28 in total for the air-conditioning.
However, when she presented with the bill after the meal, she was flabbergasted to see that she was charged RM100 instead—three times more than the initial amount.

She also added that this was the first time she had been charged such a high amount for simply enjoying the air-conditioner at a restaurant.
Mixed reactions
In the comment section, there were netizens who expressed outrage over the charge, with one calling for the authorities to probe the restaurant for profiteering.

Another asked if this would set a precedent for other restaurants to charge customers for other amenities such as chairs, tables, tissue paper, and handwash.

However, some defended the restaurant and argued its side of the story should be heard for the sake of objectivity.

Another said that customers have the option of whether they want to sit at air-conditioned areas and have no right to complain when they’re being charged for it.
