In yet another bizarre case of attire policing, a woman was barred from entering a hospital in Kuantan for wearing a pair of knee-length pants.
A video of the incident soon found its way to Twitter, where it has since elicited strong condemnation from netizens.
Barred from entering hospital over knee-length pants
In the 15-second clip, a guard at the hospital is seen apologising to the woman and saying that he would be reprimanded by his superiors.
As the woman looks on in bewilderment, the man behind the camera pans towards the guard and confronts him over not letting the woman enter the hospital due to the length of her pants.
The guard then defended himself by saying that he was merely carrying out the rules set by the management.
The incident is believed to have taken place at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA).

Conflict was due to a misunderstanding
Needless to say, netizens were outraged by the clip and called out the guard and the HTAA’s management over their attire policy.
“She should just walk in. The guard cannot touch her. He has no right to stop her. Madness.”
“Ridiculous! It’s a hospital not a government office! She’s decently dressed. Pants are below her knees!”
“OMG. What has the aunty done wrong? Is this considered indecent?”
A statement was later released by Pahang Health director Datuk Dr Nor Azimi Yunus to clear the air regarding the controversy.
According to her, the incident was caused by a misunderstanding on the dress code by the guard.
So far, no problem has arisen for visitors who are dressed in such a way to enter during visiting hours, except for those who are not decently dressed.
“HTAA has taken appropriate measures to make the security guards understand that they should not take any enforcement action without official instructions from the hospital,” she said as quoted by Bernama.
