M’sian Unhappy With Overpriced RM63 Nasi Lemak For Two At KLIA Due To Subpar Quality And Look

Premium price tag, not premium quality.

UPDATE

Malaysia Airports acted promptly by investigating the issue and resolved it by admitting an error in the passenger’s order, offering an apology, and giving a refund.

Many might empathize with the surprise of airport pricing, but a hungry stomach justifies paying for it.

Recently, a customer named Mr. Nav took to social media to vent his frustration after being charged RM63.10 for two servings of Nasi Lemak at KLIA.

“I understand airport pricing and all or maybe some fancy dish but this is ridiculous la,” he wrote in his post.

The total cost is over RM63.10, not including tax, a price he deemed exorbitant for the simple fare of fried chicken, ikan bilis, rice, and a spoonful of sambal, all served in a box.

Mr. Nav expected, with the premium price tag, a meal that at least appeared a bit more upscale.

Fine with the price, but not the quality

Speaking to WeirdKaya, he said the nasi lemak was pretty bland and the fried chicken tasted like it was cooked hours ago and reheated before it was being served.

Despite acknowledging the typical higher costs associated with airport venues, Mr. Nav’s chief complaint is not the price itself, but rather that “the food and how it was presented doesn’t justify the pricing.”

“The main reason why I posted this was not because of the pricing. I understand that it’s the airport and pricing are bound to be higher than normal places. Pricing was NOT the main issue.”

“The food and how it’s served don’t really match up with how much it costs.”

He added that it’s unfair and leaves a bad first impression for people just arriving in Malaysia, since the restaurant is right where visitors first enter.
