An off-duty frontliner in Malaysia has won praise online after a viral video showed her risking her own safety to help a driver trapped in a car at the bottom of a ravine.
The video, uploaded on TikTok by user Zulmizilinda on April 21, shows Haslinda Mansor carefully making her way down a steep ravine along Pasir Gudang Highway.
Braved heavy rain to reach trapped driver
Gripping onto a swaying branch for support, she slowly descended towards a battered black car despite the slippery terrain and heavy rain.
At several points, she nearly lost her footing but continued moving forward until she reached the vehicle.

She then bent down to look through the driver’s window and spoke to the victim, checking on his condition before making her way back up to safety.
Acted on instinct despite being off duty
Haslinda, who works at Sultanah Aminah Hospital, later told SinarPlus that she had been on her way home when she came across the accident.
According to her, the driver was unable to exit the vehicle as it was stuck against a tree branch, with the doors jammed shut. She also noted that water could be heard rushing beneath the car.

Despite the danger, Haslinda said her decision to help came naturally, even though she was off duty. She added that she managed to reassure the victim and advised him to wait for firefighters or an ambulance to arrive.
Netizens call her actions brave and inspiring
The video has since garnered over 2.3 million views and more than 76,700 likes, with many Malaysians praising Haslinda in the comments.
“She’s a nurse. It’s her instinct to save lives that makes her brave.”

“She is a nurse. It’s not that she’s braver, but she is fulfilling her duty 🌷”
