A heartwarming encounter between a Chinese motorcyclist and a Malay roadside mechanic has taken an unexpected yet touching turn, leaving netizens both emotional and amused.
Chinese motorcyclist Dicky recently paid a visit to the Malay mechanic known online as “Minyak hitam jalanan”, handing over RM3,000 from a RM5,000 donation he had previously received.
Earlier on TikTok, Dicky had pledged to split the funds, allocating RM3,000 to the mechanic while setting aside the remaining RM2,000 for his children’s school fees back in his hometown.
Mechanic accepts, then returns the money
In a video shared on Facebook, the mechanic documented Dicky’s visit and the handover of the donation.
However, in an unexpected move, he returned the entire RM3,000 to Dicky on the spot, saying it should instead be used for his children’s education.
The moment left many viewers touched, especially as both men appeared together again, continuing the story that first went viral.
Mechanic explains decision
According to the mechanic, the decision was suggested by his wife. He explained that he first accepted the money to honour Dicky’s intentions and public trust, before returning it to avoid any misunderstanding.
He added that he does not wish to hold onto excessive donations, stating that having enough is sufficient and that too much money could lead one astray.
He also expressed hope that the video would serve as a lesson in kindness and sincerity.
