When the victim stopped his Perodua Kembara at the traffic light, two men on a motorcycle stopped on the left side of his car. A Perodua Alza followed closely behind and blocked the victim’s car by cutting in front of it.

The pillion rider of the motorcycle then smashed the driver’s side of the car with an axe before removing the car key to prevent the victim from fleeing.

“The accomplice in the Perodua Alza then opened the passenger door and grabbed a bag containing RM200,000,” he said as quoted by Berita Harian.

Mohd Iqbal said the victim, who worked as a scrap trader and company director, was thankfully unhurt in the incident and later lodged a police report.

Car plate numbers believed to be fake

He added that after running a check on the Perodua Alza’s car plate, it turned out to be fake as it was registered to a Toyota Vios instead.

Mohd Iqbal urged the public not to carry large sums of money with them in public, adding that the case is being investigated under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code, which provides for up to 20 years in prison and whipping upon conviction.

He also told the public to contact criminal investigation officer, Inspector Nor Idayu Abdul Aziz at 019-9459062 if they had more information on the incident.
