A Malaysian has claimed that their mother dismissed three domestic helpers after one of them accidentally sent a message about spitting in the family’s food to a WhatsApp group that included their employers.
Taking to Threads, user @sahayahamba_ alleged that the message led their parents to discover a separate group chat containing discussions about taking belongings and running away.
Allegedly overheard a conversation at the dining table
According to the post, the incident began after the OP’s mother discussed a recent controversy with their father at the dining table.

During the conversation, she allegedly criticised an individual’s intelligence, saying the person could not distinguish facts from lies.
The OP stressed that the remark was directed at that particular individual, rather than everyone from a particular country.
They speculated that one of the helpers may have overheard the conversation and discussed it with the others in their private group, where they also allegedly made disparaging remarks about Malaysia.
Message allegedly landed in the wrong group

Things took a turn when one of the helpers allegedly sent a message to a WhatsApp group containing the OP’s parents by mistake.
The OP recalled the message as roughly saying:
Let’s just spit in their food, like we haven’t done it before. Serves them right. Let them taste the spit of someone with a low IQ.”
After seeing it, the OP’s mother allegedly called all three helpers over and asked for their phones.
The OP claimed that they began trembling and pleading with her.
However, the post does not establish whether any food was actually contaminated.
Parents allegedly found more troubling messages
According to the OP, their parents then checked the helpers’ group chat and allegedly found discussions about running away, taking belongings and spitting in food.
The helpers allegedly described the messages as jokes among themselves.
Nevertheless, the OP said their father wanted to lodge a police report over the references to taking the family’s belongings. The post did not confirm whether a report was subsequently made.
Phones and jewellery allegedly taken back
The OP claimed that their parents dismissed all three helpers following the discovery.

Their mother also allegedly took back phones she had bought for the helpers as birthday gifts, along with jewellery.
A bonus that had yet to be paid was also withheld, according to the post.
The OP added that their mother informed the employment agency about the incident. They suggested that the helpers might be sent home and blacklisted, although neither outcome was confirmed.
Each helper had a different role
Responding to a commenter who asked about the helpers’ duties, the OP explained that one cleaned the house, another cared for their grandmother, and the third helped their mother in the kitchen.
The helper who assisted in the kitchen was described as the most senior of the three.
The OP also said their father gave the helpers an annual bonus of RM500.
Meanwhile, one commenter urged the family to lodge a police report and include the agency’s details, expressing concern that the helpers could otherwise be placed with another household.
The allegations are based on the OP’s account. The screenshots provided do not include responses from the helpers or the employment agency.
