While having children is undoubtedly a joyful occasion for most couples, it’s never a good thing when the child’s legitimacy is shrouded in doubt and uncertainty.
A woman was left questioning her husband’s loyalty and her maid’s innocence after the latter became pregnant while in the second year of working for the family.
‘You’re pregnant’
In an anonymous post, the woman said her maid rarely goes out and often stays at home as she doesn’t have much friends, making it near impossible for her to have contact with other men.
Thus, it came as a shock to her when the doctor said the maid was pregnant following a medical checkup.
“I asked her about it, and she kept saying she was innocent and begged me not to send her away while in tears.
I then stopped questioning because I realised that my greatest fear was hearing a particular name slip out from her lips if I kept pushing on,” she wrote.
While on the way home, the woman’s mind kept replaying certain moments that she suspected led to what the situation was today.
Forbidden love in the making?
One moment that stood out to her was when she went to the kitchen at 2am to get a glass of water.
When she arrived, she saw her husband and maid there, who were startled by her presence.
However, her husband quickly recovered and casually said he was cooking some noodles for the maid as she was hungry.
“At the time, I thought I had married a considerate man and didn’t think much of it. After all, if a man really was cheating on me, he wouldn’t be stupid enough to have an affair with the maid.”
The woman added that it has been a week since she found out about the pregnancy, and she still hadn’t plucked up the courage to confront her husband about it.
She then ended the post by asking what she should do next.

In the comment section, some netizens told the woman to be brave in seeking the truth from her husband as she was the one being deeply wronged in the situation.
On the other hand, some slammed the woman for ignoring the warning signs exhibited in the kitchen anecdote, adding that no employee would let their husband cook meals for the maid.
Meanwhile, one suggested aborting the child and firing the maid for misconduct before hiring a male domestic helper.
