The Malaysian government has announced a special early incentive payment for its civil servants.
All civil servants in Grade 56 to receive one-time payment
All civil servants in Grade 56 and below, including those in contract positions, are set to receive a one-time payment of RM2,000 today (23 Feb).
This announcement follows a statement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the Finance Ministry’s monthly gathering in Putrajaya on 6 February.
Additionally, a sum of RM1,000 will be disbursed to individuals in crucial public sector roles, encompassing the police, Fire and Rescue Services Department, army, armed forces, and all uniformed bodies.
Government retirees, including both pensionable and non-pensionable veterans, will also benefit from this RM1,000 incentive payment.
Aims to reduce financial pressures
Prime Minister Anwar highlighted that the decision to disburse these incentive payments in a single installment aims to alleviate the financial pressures faced by parents preparing for the new school term, as well as the upcoming Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
This financial incentive comes as a part of the government’s commitment, outlined during the 2024 Budget announcement last year, to support civil servants through early incentive payments.
