With Hari Raya coming in just slightly more than a week from today, Malaysians are gearing up to celebrate the occasion with family and friends.
Now, civil servants will have something to look forward to before Hari Raya approaches as they will be receiving a special financial aid from the government starting this Friday (Apr 5).
RM500 in Raya aid for civil servants, pensioners
Speaking to staff members of the of the Prime Minister’s Department in Putrajaya during a monthly assembly this morning, prime minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government will be handing out a RM500 Raya aid to all civil servants and pensioners.
Civil servants of Grade 56 and below will be given RM500 while pensioners and veterans, both pensioned and non-pensioned, will be given RM250.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, added that civil servants hired on a contract basis will also be eligible for the RM500 cash aid.
The aid is expected to be handed out this coming Friday before the first day of Raya comes, which is expected to fall on next Wednesday (Apr 10).
This announcement seemed to be a ‘U-turn’ from Anwar, who previously announced that civil servants will not be receiving the annual Raya bonus this year as a RM2,000 incentive was given back in February.
