A Malaysian boss anonymously expressed frustration regarding challenges with Gen Z employees, specifically those born in the 2000s.
In a post shared by XUAN Play, the boss shared an incident where a young employee complained to their mother after being scolded at work.
The situation escalated when the mother then confronted and scolded the boss.
“What happened to those born after 2000? Recently, I hired a post-00 employee, and their mentality is really poor. They actually complained to their mother that I scolded them, and then the mother turned around and scolded me,” he wrote.

The boss emphasized their surprise at the employee’s reaction and their mother’s involvement, questioning the dynamics of being a boss and creating job opportunities.
The boss further lamented that even their children do not scold them, unlike the employee’s mother.
“What’s wrong with me being a boss and hiring workers to do their job? I created job opportunities for those born after 2000, so what’s wrong with that?
Even my own children haven’t scolded me, but this employee comes to work and gets scolded by me. Many of my peers have experienced similar situations.”
Peers of the boss have reportedly experienced similar issues with Gen Z staff.
The post concludes with a contemplation on whether this is more of an issue with the parents of Gen Z rather than the generation itself.
“Everyone, are those born after 2000 untouchable? They can’t be scolded, can’t be hit, can’t be talked to, can’t be compared with others. Please just let them stay at home and be mama’s boys.”
