A dashcam video showing a Mercedes driver showing the middle finger towards another driver who blocked him from using the emergency lane has recently gone viral on the Internet.
Mercedes hogging the emergency lane
In the video which was posted to the Facebook group Dashcam Owner Malaysia, the dashcam owner had initially tried to stop the car from hogging the emergency lane by slightly moving his/her car into the lane.
Annoyed by it, the Mercedes driver then overtakes the dashcam owner and does a brake check in an attempt to intimidate him.
He also wound down his window and flashed his middle finger to show how what he really felt and even threw rubbish towards the dashcam owner.
Police: Investigations ongoing
The Batu Pahat district police headquarters (IPD) has since confirmed the incident, saying that the video took place at the North–South Expressway Southern Route (Pagoh–Yong Peng (North) section) last Friday (Apr 23) before going viral on Monday (Apr 26).
We urge the driver who recorded this action as well as those who witnessed the incident to come forward to help with the investigation,” said Batu Pahat District Assistant Commissioner Ismail Bin Dollah in a press release.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Rule 53A, traffic rule 166/59 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
The police also advised drivers to be more careful and obey traffic laws while on the road.
