The Secretary-General of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), Datuk Chong Sin Woon, announced that the party’s Central Committee has decided not to participate in the upcoming six state elections.
The decision came after thorough consideration and analysis, as well as an evaluation of the current political climate.
The MCA Central Committee has opted to focus on the upcoming general elections instead.
Consequently, the party will intensify its efforts towards implementing party reforms and revival in preparation for the 16th general elections over the next few years.
Nevertheless, the MCA pledges to fulfill its responsibilities as a member of the Barisan Nasional coalition by supporting the candidates of its coalition partners in these six state elections.
The MCA remains committed to its founding principles. “All our decisions and actions are aimed at preserving the constitutional system of moderation, pluralism, and democratic freedom. Simultaneously, we strive to uphold the people’s rights and welfare as our ultimate goal,” said the party in a statement.
