‘Give Them Space’ — Lawyer Tells Public To Respect Hannah Yeoh & Husband’s Privacy Following Divorce

"This is a private matter and we need to respect their privacy."
Yesterday, the whole of Malaysia were left in shock after it was revealed that Federal Territories minister Hannah Yeoh had officially split from her husband of 18 years.

As rumours and speculations swirl around the couple, a lawyer has stepped forward to urge the public to refrain from such behaviour so that Yeoh and her husband could navigate through this difficult time.

‘Don’t speculate’

In a Facebook post by Kiang Jau Sang (江昭上), he wrote that the divorce was not an easy thing for Yeoh and her husband to go through as they had been married for close to two decades and share two children together.

“I hope the public doesn’t speculate over the reason for their divorce. This is a private matter and we shouldn’t jump into conclusions. Instead, we need to give them space,” he wrote.

Offers help to Yeoh

Kiang also praised Yeoh for her down-to-earth personality despite her political status, adding that he found her “deeply likable, humble, and approachable”.

He then called out those who relished the news of Yeoh’s divorce, writing:

As a divorce lawyer, I know some rejoice whenever they see others getting divorced. These are twisted individuals. We shouldn’t use someone else’s bad news to cover our shortcomings in life.”

Kiang also said he’s ready to offer any form of assistance to Yeoh should she need it in the future.

“Hannah, I respect your decision and I hope it will affect your two daughters too much. Wish you all the best and if you need any help, please let me know. You’ve done for much for the rakyat and this is the least I could do.”

At the time of writing, Yeoh has not publicly released a statement addressing her divorce.
