Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will officially be part of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government.
In a press conference held on his first day in office at Perdana Putra in Putrajaya, Anwar said that the matter was confirmed with GRS chairman and Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor.
With GRS’ addition, Anwar now has the support of 145 MPs, including two independent MPs and one from Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM), who are believed to be aligned with GRS.
This would effectively give Anwar a two-thirds majority.
Cabinet to be reduced
In his speech, Anwar also promised that the Cabinet size would be reduced but did not give a specific number.
Last night, the newly-elected Prime Minister gave a press conference to hundreds of reporters at Sungai Long Golf and Country Club addressing several key issues that were part of his agenda.
